In my youth, my orientation towards medicine and natural sciences was not entirely clear, and I followed my parents' inclination towards music, journalism, documentary and filmmaking. In the totalitarian times, however, these fields of study were heavily indebted to the regime of the time, and my parents, given my nature, were extremely happy that medicine won out in the end. They knew that with my slightly irrepressible temperament as a journalist or documentary filmmaker, I would soon stumble.
My dad was a gifted man, a great lover and it was not easy with him. He came to life again in front of my eyes when Jiří Kodet played him perfectly in the film Pelíšky. My mother was also always a strong personality and therefore it was not easy to get the word out at home when I was growing up, so I had to learn to assert my thoughts and ideas in such an environment. In addition to my parents' Italian marriage, my childhood was full of visits from journalists, writers, directors, painters, actors, composers and other interesting personalities. So I learned to perceive the parallel worlds of art and science, and I still like both very much.
Assisted reproduction captivated me during my studies as a very colourful, lively and synthetic field and I was drawn to it from the beginning. Everything was enhanced when I was allowed to be taught the secrets of this field by a fantastic doctor and expert, and a very likable person at that - the then assistant of the clinic on the Obilní market - Honza Veselý. Yes, you guessed right, in addition to our shared passion for assisted reproduction, we have been married for twenty-five years, raising two children and building our clinic. When my husband and I aren't working, we like to be outdoors the most - skiing, biking, and golfing. My great love and hobby is yoga and holistic medicine - especially traditional Chinese phytotherapy.
My son calls me a "hard softie". And he's probably right. I may be a strict boss, but I hope I'm fair. I like the people around me and I'm a big fan of those who are capable. I believe in their abilities and educability. I always make sure that we don't stray from the important principles and resolutions on which we built the clinic twenty years ago.
I consider the opening of the new REPROMEDA clinic in the Biology Park on the Brno University campus to be the crowning of our joint life efforts and a confirmation that we have surrounded ourselves with the right experts and people. And it is my greatest joy that, despite the complex development of Czech assisted reproduction, we have remained a purely Czech and family-owned company and at the same time we can offer our patients the highest possible quality of treatment in a highly comfortable environment.
