I got pregnant for the first time when I was 33 years old and for the second time at the age of 34 with the help of IVF.

The first pregnancy was not a happy one. My daughter had a genetic disorder incompatible with life and the doctors recommended us to terminate the pregnancy in the second trimester. Genetic testing showed a terminal genome disorder. They gave us a 50% chance of recurrence, which is like a coin toss. Embryo attachment after an IVF cycle is slightly higher.

We turned to an assisted reproduction clinic for help. We chose Repromeda in Brno because of their genetic program. MUDr. Alena Filková took care of us and explained everything to us. Slowly, step by step, she went through the process with us (follicle growth, follicle collection, egg fertilization, embryo culture and genetic testing of the embryos with subsequent discarding of the diseased embryos).

After discarding the embryos with genetic defects, we were left with two healthy embryos. To increase the probability of embryo attachment we used Glue. I got pregnant on the first try and the second healthy embryo is still waiting for us in the cryobank.

There were complications in the pregnancy, but they were not related to the IVF cycle. In the end, we got a healthy and beautiful Martinka by acute caesarean section.
