How Does CatSper Work?
The CatSper method analyzes the functionality of CatSper ion channels, which are located in the sperm tail. If these channels are damaged, the sperm cannot naturally fertilize the egg. This issue can occur even in men with normal semen analysis results. In such cases, the assisted reproduction method ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is recommended, as it allows the sperm to be directly injected into the egg.
Who Can Benefit from CatSper?
This test is recommended for men who want a detailed overview of their reproductive health and for couples who:
- have difficulty conceiving naturally,
- have experienced failed intrauterine insemination (IUI),
- have not had success with conventional IVF.
How Does the Examination Work?
The test begins with a simple semen sample collection, which is then analyzed using the CatSper method. Based on the results, we will recommend the most appropriate next steps.
